Thanks for joining the MP3 Music Pool for DJs

As with any pool, we need rules and procedures to follow so no one
gets screwed, everybody is treated in the same, fair manner and we all
share. SAVE this e-mail or print it out.

Rules:

1-You must submit songs or youāre out.
2-Please submit only extended versions, unless a short mix is the only
mix available.
3-Dance music only - house/club/euro/NRG/pop
Try to submit new tracks and hard to get stuff. If too many old songs
get posted, people will drop out and the pool will close if there are
no members to support it.
4-Do not post something that has already been posted by you or someone
else. A request to repost a track due to technical problems (bad or
corrupt file) should be sent to me (the moderator) at
dancetracks@yahoo.com and I will check the file and forward the
request to the original poster)
5-Each member must submit their song, chart and want lists each week
to be included for that weekās exchange. It doesnāt matter if your
chart or want list has not changed. You must send a list each week.
Create a text file and reuse it if you want. You may skip a week, but
try not to skip two weeks.
6-Each member must maintain their Web site and recreate it if it gets
yanked by the provider.
7-No one is to give out or link to the URLs from this pool or sites
will get too much traffic and theyāll be yanked by the provider. DONāT
do it if you want this pool to last.
8-Songs must be recorded at 128/44  bit and sampling rate.
160/44 is better.
9-Please have something ready for trade by Monday each week. If I do
not receive an e-mail from you by Monday, you will not receive that
weekās notification of available downloads.

Procedures:

1-Create a site at www.geocities.com. Downloads there have been good
to me for the last few weeks. DO NOT delete the index.html file or
this will let other users see into the directory. Just leave the index
file alone or put up a new index file if you like. Do not use this
site for anything else except the pool. www.Xoom.com has faster
transfers, but I get a site yanked every two weeks or so. sometimes
faster when traffic picks up. DO NOT use Tripod to store your files.
They suck. I will ask you to change it if you do.

2-Record and encode the MP3 to 128/44. RENAME the track with a ZIP
extension. Do not actually ZIP the file. Just change the name. FTP the
file to your site.

4-E-mail dancetracks@yahoo.com with the following info:

-The name of the track, the artist, the mix (if available).

-The URL where it can be found. (remember to check it first before
sending it to me)

-Your first name only (DJ Tom, etc.) so I can keep track of who
submits what and when.

-A TOP 20 play list of songs that you are playing at gigs. Or they can
be your favorite for the month or rare stuff, or cool tracks that
youāve discovered. Must be somewhat new stuff!

-Include your want list, although you donāt have to have one. And try
to help others with a wanted track if possible, but donāt include too
many since they can be old and we want to be a pool with new music!

5-When I receive these e-mails, Iāll compile the URL and track
listings. Iāll post the play list and want list to my Web site for
everyone to see, hopefully within a day (DO NOT give this URL to
anyone. DO NOT link to it).

https://members.tripod.com/~bugsmasher3/djpool.html
(The page will be up on Monday night or Tuesday after receiving
everyoneās e-mail.)

No names will be used to protect the innocent. Iāll include
everybodyās play charts and want lists. If someone wants to help out
and post a wanted song, please e-mail me and Iāll update the page, or
Iāll e-mail everyone, to say that someone will be posting a specific
track for the next trade week.

6-The URLs will be e-mailed to everyone separately. Please donāt share
it with others.

So, itās not too hard. Create a site in minutes, submit one track, and
send off an e-mail.

OK, letās everybody post their favorite track of the week/month and
send the above mentioned info to me by Monday. Once we start to see
what everybody wants, or has, we can start posting tracks everyone
wants.

Now, let the trading begin!

-DJ Henry-

ps: E-mail me if you have a problem with these rules or you can
suggest a better way to choose songs.
